UPDATE 4 JAN 2013
bottom bracket is stiff / unusual motion. Hard to reverse pedal. Why so soon with a new bike?!
I've even lubricated the bottom bracket but still it's stiff. This stiffness suddenly came while I was riding this evening (maybe my 4th ride on the new bike)....?
I do wonder about the quality of the parts...
I've bought Kink mid bottom bracket set and will fit /replace the current rubbish and see how it goes then.
update: 21 Jan 2013.
Ok, turns out that the bottom bracket is fine. problem is the driver on the rear hub which locks up. Eastern are sending a new "bushing". will this solve the problem?
Don't know yet.... We shall see
oh... and no other driver will fit this godam rear hub.... so stuck with Eastern products.... unless iI buy a new hub!
now regretting this purchase. Eastern are naughty to sell defective goods....
update 30 Jan 2013.
Eastern sent the bushing. however, how does on remove the old bushing from the driver? not easy and apparently not possible. it's tight within the driver. And the new bushing looks identical to the old/current bushing.
Eastern ignoring email request for assistance..............I guess it's the end of the road with Eastern. Sad!

OK, I received the Odyssey 9 tooth driver which i purchased on Amazon (Niagara cycle works - great supplier/vendor), and thankfully the Odyssey driver fits the Venus Rear hub by Eastern. Still the hub locked up when I fastened the rear axle bolts. So i removed the pop-n-lock hub guard, and also changed the spacer between the axle bolt and hub on the non-driver side (to a thinner spacer). and whalla! finally it's working fine.
The Odyssey driver is far better than the Eastern crappy driver.

venus Rear hub is kaka.
after much effort and no success, replaced the rear wheel with an Odyssey rear wheel. the design is much better on the Odyssey hub. solid, smooth, no issues whatsoever.Great Bike!!! By Festus

Easy to assemble.
Large handlebars, comfortable seat, long top tube, high pressure tires.
The female axles give the bike a sleek look. Comes with the alloy axle pre-installed. May want to install a chromo axle if you are running pegs.
The Venus hub is great, you just have to make sure the cone nuts are tight (using a spa 2 spanner wrench), otherwise the bushing will come loose and the hub will lock up.
